About David

Retired after 40 years of partnering an historic restoration business in the greater Boston area, I rediscovered a passion for creating. Most of these works are based on years of doodles, in notebooks from college, and deskpads from boring jobs. I also like to use photos I’ve taken, and modify them. I can lean toward the bizarre at times, as you will see in the eyes and worms series.

THE WORK

quads

To my eye, these drawings represent impossible shapes.

tessalations

Means a repeating pattern. All hand-drawn pieces.

vortexes

This is the fastest way to fill up a notebook page without actually taking notes.

shelves

What you see is so contradictory your brain just shows it flat.

LSG

Using a drafting tool left to me by my father-in-law, I trace the curved shapes, over lapping each.

RANDOM

Things which have not yet enough quantity to be assigned categories.

eyes, worms, …

DO NOT LOOK INTO THIS SHOP IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY DISEMBODIED BODY PARTS!

plants

Mostly pics of plants we grow. So to me they’re like old friends.

trilobites

As you may or may not know, trilobites are ancient extinct arthropods.

The Process

I like the feel of creating with physical tools as opposed to a keyboard. I’m impatient with the process and am more interested in the results. Hence some of my work may make you think “My kid could have done that.” Maybe. Maybe I’m just a kid at heart!
